About us
The Women in eDiscovery was founded on May 2, 2007. In just one year, the Women in eDiscovery has grown internationally to over 1,800 members with new members from all over the world joining daily. At present time, there are over 20 Chapters with regular meetings with new Chapters forming monthly.
The Founders of The Women in eDiscovery, (Shawnna Childress, Lana Schell and Margaret Havinga) envisioned an organization with no barriers for any woman to enter so membership is free and monthly meetings include your meal and education at no charge. Non-Solitication Rule
Since the use of this organization and its membership for the purpose of soliciting business is not consistent with the goals and purposes of Women in eDiscovery, we have a non-solicitation policy. The membership roster and meetings are for personal and professional development and not for solicitation.
Members are, of course, free to network in person and discuss business with other members and guests, but each member agrees not to engage in any bulk solicitation of others and/or guests for any business or other purpose. Participants also acknowledge that complaints from other members or guests about unwanted business or other solicitations are grounds for termination of membership.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Women in eDiscovery is to bring together businesswomen interested in technology related to the legal industry and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and other businesswomen grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition.
Goals
To create leadership and networking opportunities among women who are interested in helping themselves and other businesswomen grow personally and professionally.
To advocate the viewpoint of professional women in the legal industry especially on issues affecting the application of technology in their roles at work and at home.
To bridge the knowledge gap for women between old technology, traditional technology, and future trends.
To offer educational and certification opportunities for women who are interested in furthering their education in legal and technology fields.
To establish a strong communication network among women focused in the legal and technology industries
